What is your Hobby ?
What is Your Hobby?
By Daniel Justine
I know a girl.
She works in a company, and her daily routine is as follows:
- She wakes up
- Morning routines
- Boards the bus to the office
- Works in the office for 10 hours
- Boards the bus back home
- Relax, sleep…
And the next day:
- She wakes up
- Morning routines
- Boards the bus to the office
- Works in the office for 10 hours
- Boards the bus back home
- Relax, sleep…
In the meantime, she has family, friends, social media, calls, chatting, etc. Sometimes, she may feel stressed at work, and she faces ups and downs in relationships and social life.
Despite all of this, there is one thing that gives her more happiness, appreciation, and satisfaction.
It is nothing but…
HER HOBBY.
She is passionate about photography. During her free time, she takes pictures and uploads them on her social media. She feels incredibly happy doing this, and she is satisfied with her work.
We all have routines in life—doing our regular tasks. Sometimes, we get tired or bored of repeating the same things every day.
As Angelique Kerber, the world’s No. 1 tennis player, says:
"Just do what you love. This is what I am doing."
Sometimes, wonders can happen. Angelique Kerber may have started tennis as a hobby, but now it’s her life.
And now…
It’s our turn.
What is your hobby?
What are you interested in?
What do you like to do in your free time?
Common hobbies include gardening, crafting, listening to music, painting, etc. But hobbies are not limited to these. There are no boundaries when it comes to hobbies.

Hobbies Are Just Time Pass?
I don’t think hobbies are just a time pass. They are things that align with our interests and bring us happiness.
Hobbies make us forget about food and time.
They encourage us to improve on what we did before.
Today, we have powerful platforms (social media) to showcase our creativity. A great example is the hundreds of photography pages on Instagram.
Hobbies help us discover our talents. Often, we forget about our hobbies due to work stress, the pressure to make money, and other responsibilities.
We all know that Google is one of the top companies in the world, and they have rules called "9 Principles of Innovation," which is related to hobbies. It states:
"Give employees 20 percent of their work time to pursue projects they are passionate about, even if it is outside the core job or mission of the company. They will delight you with their creative thinking."
Google has these rules because they understand the power of hobbies (work that aligns with our interests). Hobbies not only bring happiness but also provide us with valuable resources in life.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra, a successful Indian actress, producer, and businesswoman, shared how her hobby led to success:
"I visualize what I want through meditation. The process of meditating is a great way to ensure I have my priorities sorted. It’s not about money—I focus on my career and the kinds of film projects I want to pursue. Filmmaking is a passion for me, and my mantra is: Do what you love, and the money will follow."
Upshot
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."
– Bible
Hobbies are things we practice in our free time. Nowadays, media often steals time from our hobbies, so we must stay focused on what we love.
If we see people excelling in our field, we can take them as lessons and learn from them, but we should not get discouraged by what we don’t know.
Do what you love doing.
