Am I Doing God's Will?

One of the most common questions Christians ask is:

• What is God's plan for my life?
• How do I know God's will?
• Which career should I choose according to God's will?
• Where does God want me to be in the future?

These are important questions. We all want to know God's purpose for our lives.

However, most of the time, we spend so much energy trying to discover God's will for the future that we forget to live according to God's will today.

Before asking, "What is God's will for my future?" perhaps we should ask ourselves:

"Am I doing God's will today?"

What Is God's Will?

In simple terms, God's will is what pleases Him.

Many people assume that God's will is a hidden mystery that needs to be discovered. While God certainly guides us in important decisions, much of His will has already been revealed in Scripture.

God desires us to live lives that reflect His character.

He calls us to:

• Love one another.
• Be thankful.
• Do good.
• Live in holiness.
• Show compassion.
• Practise humility.
• Persevere in difficult times.
• Seek justice and equality.
• Serve others.

God's will is not merely about choosing the right career or finding the perfect place to live. It is first and foremost about becoming the right person.

Being Human

We often hear the phrase, "Being Human."

But what does it mean?

To be human is to acknowledge both our strengths and our weaknesses. We are imperfect people who make mistakes.

Making mistakes does not make us failures. It makes us human.

The problem is not that we fall—it is when we deliberately choose to remain where we have fallen.

God's will is not perfection overnight. It is transformation over time.

Every day, God invites us to become a little more like the people He created us to be.

God's Will in Everyday Life

Sometimes we think God's will is something extraordinary.

What if God's will today simply looks like:

• Feeding someone who is hungry.
• Encouraging someone who is discouraged.
• Offering your time to someone in need.
• Forgiving someone who hurt you.
• Caring for God's creation.
• Standing for truth and justice.
• Living honestly and ethically.

God's will is often found in the ordinary moments of life.

We don't have to wait for a supernatural revelation to start obeying God. We can begin today.

Don't Ignore Today's Calling

There is nothing wrong with praying about your future. In fact, we should seek God's guidance in every major decision.

Ask God:

• Where should I serve?
• What career should I pursue?
• What ministry have You called me to?

But while waiting for answers about tomorrow, do not neglect your responsibilities today.

Many people are waiting to discover God's grand plan while overlooking the opportunities God has already placed before them.

Plant Something That Will Outlive You

There is an old saying:

Break your stone heart, plant a sapling, and water it daily. One day, it will give refuge to thousands.

Our small acts of kindness, love, and faithfulness may seem insignificant today, but God often uses ordinary acts to accomplish extraordinary purposes.

Live God's Will Every Day

Knowing God's will for the future is important, but living God's will in the present is even more important.

Let us not become so concerned about tomorrow that we fail to shine today.

So, before asking,

"What is God's plan for my life?"

ask yourself,

"Am I living according to God's will today?"

Let us make every day colourful by spreading light over darkness.
